Classical Music inspired by Spain

Vivid, evocative, passionate and colorful, these are adjectives frequently used to describe the music of Spain. Spain has had more than two thousand years of internal and external influences and developments that have resulted in a wide variety of unique musical traditions. From the Romans to the Moors to the Greeks and the early Christians, Spanish music is entrenched in history, receiving different musical keys from around the Mediterranean and across Europe. From fast gypsy rhythms to brooding, jagged chords — Spanish composers have taken from their homeland a distinctive style that is projected through their music which is generally dominated by chamber instruments like the piano, and of course the classical guitar. However, you also find grand orchestral masterpieces with their own Spanish flair amongst some of the region’s most famous exports.
