O Έντουαρντ Χόπερ (1882-1967) υπήρξε ένας από τους κυριότερους εκπροσώπους του ρεαλισμού στην αμερικανική τέχνη του μεσοπολέμου. Γεννήθηκε στο Νίακ της Νέας Υόρκης και πέρασε τα παιδικά και εφηβικά του χρόνια σε αυτή τη μικρή επαρχιακή πόλη. Από το 1900 εγκαταστάθηκε οριστικά στη Νέα Υόρκη όπου αρχικά είχε πάει για σπουδές, ζώντας την καθημερινότητα της μεγαλύτερης μητρόπολης των Η.Π.Α.[..........................]
