This Gala concert in the Kazan Opera (Republic of Tatarstan) was held
on the occasion of the Olympic Universiade in Kazan in July 2013,
Capital of Tatarstan, as part of a Tribute of the great bass singer Feodeor
Shalyapin who birthed in Kazan. The most famous tatar in the world is
the outstanding dancer Rudolf Nureyev and the International Festival
of Classic Ballet named in his honour is held in Kazan in May. This
Shalyapin Gala filmed in July 2013 gathered the most famous singers
(specially bass singers) of the Tatarstan together with the Orchestra
of the Mariinsky Theatre from Saint Petersburg conducted by Valery
Gergiev and Renat Salavatov in a Russian, French and Italian repertoire.
