The Thin Red Line /Η Λεπτή Κόκκινη Γραμμή (1998)

Αν και η ταινια αναφερεται στο γνωστο και χιλιοειπωμενο θεμα του δευτερου παγκοσμιου πολεμου, ειναι αρκετα πρωτοτυπη. Δεν ασχολειται με αυτη καθεαυτη την μαχη των Αμερικανων με τους Ιαπωνες, αλλα με τα υπαρξιακα προβληματα των ιδιων των πολεμιστων και των δυο πλευρων.Σε μορφη ποιηματος και εσωτερικου μονολογου καθενας απο τους στρατιωτες βιωνει το θανατο η ερχεται αντιμετωπος με αυτον. Καθ`ολη τη διαρκεια της ταινιας και σε ενα κυριολεκτικα πανδαιμονιο αντιθεσεων της φυσης που γεννιεται, αφου το εργο εκτυλισσεται σε ενα παραδεισενιο νησι, των ειρηνικων ιθαγενων που δεν μπορουν να καταλαβουν το νοημα του πολεμου και σε μερικες δεκαδες φανταρων που σκοτωνονται και ακρωτηριαζονται, χωρις να ξερουν το λογο, αραδιαζονται αριστοτεχνικα ολες οι θεμελιωδεις αξιες της ζωης. Χωρις κανενα δισταγμο, το εργο ανοιγει παραθυρα για αξιολογο προβληματισμο,αφου το θεμα ανθρωπος πολεμος και κατα συνεπεια θανατος ειναι ιδιαιτερα επικαιρο.
