Το χρυσόψαρο της υποκρισίας μας

Children. Children travelling with their people, a journey towards hope and salvation. Children separated from their people, fighting for their lives in the wild sea. Children found, drowned, by the seashore – of the ‘civilised’ world. Borders everywhere. How may a child define the dreadful ‘order’ of humanity? The only thing she knows when the smuggler’s boat starts sinking is that she can’t swim as well as her goldfish can.

The Goldfish is a lullaby. A nine-year-old girl on the boat without her parents, but with hope and memories as her only luggage.

Written by George Andreou and sung emotionally by Korina Legaki, with Ellmah Salim Bwanahadi and the choir of the Alsoupoli Primary School of Intercultural Education, The Goldfish is both tender and cruel, a comment about fear, religious and ideological conflict; about theories of superiority – all leading to Auschwitz. Wars faraway and yet so close. Τοday’s prosperity transforming into tomorrow’s adversity. The refugee. The uprooted from one's place. Against their will.

Arranged and mixed by George Andreou. Choral arrangement by Thomas Kontogeorgis, recorded by Panagiotis Petronikolos. Serafeim Ntousias shot scenes from the recording day, creating a touching video clip together with the animation of Effie Pappa.
