ΑΓΓΕΛΙΚΟΣ ΑΡΤΟΣ

Cesar Franck
( 1822 – 1890)
Γεννήθηκε στη Λιέγη και πέθανε στο Παρίσι.
Σπούδασε στο Ωδείο του Παρισιού, όπου πήρε
τα πρώτα βραβεία στο πιάνο (1838), στη φούγκα (1840)
και του εκκλησιαστικού οργάνου (1841).
Διορίστηκε οργανίστας σε ναό του Παρισιού (1859)
και από το 1872 έγινε  καθηγητής του εκκλησιαστικού οργάνου.
Αν και λάτρης της φόρμας, έγραψε έργα βαθιά κατανυκτικά,
γεμάτα υπαρξιακή αγωνία και με ροπή προς την ονειροπόληση.

PANIS ANGELICUS
(ΑΓΓΕΛΙΚΟΣ ΑΡΤΟΣ)

Ο ύμνος "Panis Angelicus" γράφτηκε στα λατινικά από τον Άγιο Θωμά τον Ακινάτη και περιέχεται στο έργο του Αcris solemnii. Η μελοποίησή του από τον Σεζάρ Φρανκ το ανέδειξε ως κορυφαίο έργο της νεότερης υμνογραφίας.
