Jazz and Classical music, or "Same theme diffrent style". Of course, this is not a serious versus (we don't need such comparisons in music), but a comparison that aims to reveal the difference in interpretation of the same works between jazz musicians and classical musicians.
Classical musicians enjoyed most of the jazz artists featured here. Rachmaninoff and Horowitz liked Art Tatum (some stories are untrue), Glenn Gould and Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli liked Bill Evans, Samson François liked Bud Powell, Stockhausen collaborated with Miles Davis, Menuhin collaborated with Grappelli; Bartok, Copland, Poulenc, Leonard Bernstein and Stravinsky collaborated with Benny Goodman; Stravinsky went to the bar and listened to Charlie Parker, Julian Bream liked Django, Kreisler liked Eddie South...
Unfortunately, I had to delete some recordings for copyright reasons. For example, Wayne Shortner's recording of Sibelus Valse Triste or Bud Powell's recording of Gershwin's Somebody Loves Me. I also replaced Charlie Parker's studio recording with a live unknown recording.
