ΤΑ ΤΡΑΓΟΥΔΙΑ ΠΟΥ ΑΓΑΠΗΣΑ

«Τα τραγούδια της παλιάς πόλης» είναι ένα μουσικό έργο του σημαντικού συνθέτη Νίκου Μαμαγκάκη και μια διακήρυξη αγάπης στο Ρέθυμνο των δεκαετιών του ΄30 και ΄40 και ιδιαίτερα στους Ρεθύμνιους μουσικούς εκείνης της εποχής.

"Ta Tragoudia tis Palias Polis" is a musical work of the important composer Nikos Mamangakis and a declaration of love to the old Rethymnon of the 20ies and 30ies and especially to the Rethymnian musicians of that time.

Το «Γράμμα στον Γιάννη Μπαξέ» είναι ένα από τα ποιήματα του Ρεθυμνιώτη ποιητή Γιώργου Καλομενόπουλου. Μελοποιήθηκε από τον Μαμαγκάκη και τραγουδήθηκε από τον Μιχάλη Τζουγανάκη με ιδιαίτερη ευαισθησία.

"Letter to Giannis Bakses" is one of the poems of the Rethymnian poet Giorgos Kalomenopoulos that were set to music by Mamangakis and sang by Michalis Tzouganakis in a very empathetic way.

  *«Τα ξύλα»= τα ξύλινα μουσικά όργανα
*"the woods" =the wooden music instrumets

** Μπαξεβάνης ή Μπαξές, Ροδινός και Αριστείδης: Ρεθυμνιώτες μουσικοί στα τέλη της δεκαετίας του ΄20 και των αρχών του ΄30.Ο Ροδινός ήταν ένας εξαιρετικός παίκτης της λύρας . Πέθανε το 1934 , σε ηλικία 22 ετών. Νέος πέθανε και ο Αριστείδης , ενώ ο Μπαξεβάνης παντρεύτηκε μια φαρμακοποιό και δούλεψε στο φαρμακείο , χωρίς να ξαναπαίξει λαούτο.
Μια μέρα ο Μπαξές πήρε ένα γράμμα από ένα φίλο του που του ζητούσε να πάρει το λαούτο του και να ξαναπαίξει.

** Baksevanis (called Bakses), Rodinos and Aristidis were Rethymnian musicians in the late 20ies and early 30ies.
Rodinos was an extraordinary and beloved lyra player and died 1934 at the young age of only 22. Also Aristidis died and Bakses married a woman with a pharmacy and worked in their phamacy without playing anymore the lute.
One day Bakses got a letter from a friend who asked him to take his lute and play again...
